Before and after dental treatment showing improved tooth alignment and smile aesthetics.
Clinical intraoral photo showing missing upper front teeth with remaining natural dentition in Palm Desert.
Retracted view shows multiple missing teeth as well as severe damage to the remaining teeth. The palate was very flat and there was minimal vestibular depth present. Both of these anatomic features make retention of a traditional prosthesis quite challenging.
Locator abutments placed in palate for dental implant denture support.
View of locator abutments in place with the prosthesis removed. Locators are attached to dental implants were placed at the time of extractions. Treatment time for this patient was 3 months.
Pink acrylic overdenture prosthetic with black retention ball attachments and metal clasps visible.
View of the inside of the over-denture with female components. Female components come in retentive strengths of 1.5 pounds (blue), 3.0 pounds (pink) and 5.0 pounds (clear). The above example shows 4 blue components in place. These can be changed out to meet the patient’s retention requirements.

Conclusion: Implant supported over-dentures are an excellent way to improve health, function and aesthetics. THE USE OF LOCATOR ATTACHMENTS WITH DENTAL IMPLANTS IS THE MOST ECONOMICAL WAY TO ACHIEVE A RETENTIVE PROSTHESIS. A STABLE PROSTHESIS CAN IMPROVE PATIENT SELF-ESTEEM.
